Top 7 Products NOT To Dropship In Australia 2022

If you're considering building a successful online business in 2022, it's important to be aware of the products that will make for an unsuccessful drop-shipping business. The products to avoid are plenty and usually low ticket, low quality items, but here are seven of the most common.

Here are 7 such products:

1. Cheap Jewellery

Cheap jewellery in my opinion is literally the worst thing that you can drop ship. It just doesn't work. Yes, some people are still fooled by the pretty packaging and the bargain price, but more often than not they're just being suckered into buying it because "it's so cheap". Then receiving it and being completely underwhelmed, that's not something that's going to work for you longterm.

2. Clothes

Clothes are notoriously difficult to sell online because it's easy for people to buy clothes at shopping centres and boutiques. Not to mention sizing issues when they can't try items on. This leads to a LOT of returns that cut into profit margins. However, clothing is more likely to sell if you have a personal social media presence in the space.

3. Kitchenware

Cheap kitchenware is also difficult to sell because it's easy to buy at a local store. Often, people will try out a product for a while and then return it. Not to mention the high cost of shipping this type of product that digs deep into profit margins. Furthermore, it's difficult to find the high quality products you need that will appeal to your audience.

4. Gadgets & Fad Items

Think fidget spinners... You can't build a sustainable business selling these kinds of products. Remember that cheap fad items are notorious for poor margins. Gadgets are what you might call a 'gamble' — they're popular items that people love to buy but they're usually made from plastics and low quality other materials.

5. Perishable Goods

There's nothing wrong with selling food products, but you'll need to be aware of the challenges associated with making sure that the products arrive in top condition. This includes things like keeping products cold and making sure your supplier is investing in styrofoam packaging for perishables. For me it's a little too risky of a niche.

6. Electronic Cigarettes/E-Liquids

Electronic cigarettes are legal, but they still carry an image problem. This means that it's difficult to get non-smokers to accept them as an alternative to smoking tobacco cigarettes. There's also the issue of potentially unsafe components and even some counterfeit and fake products flooding the market.

7. Cheap Electronics

People are willing to pay a premium for quality products, but they're also hesitant to pull the trigger on purchasing cheap electronics. That's because they may be counterfeit or have poor quality components that will ultimately fail. This is another reason why it's best not to rely entirely on dropshipping electronics because you can't guarantee the condition of the goods.

In Closing

No matter what you choose to sell, make sure that you're building your store around quality products with strong reputations, not off of cheap knockoffs of other people's goods. Otherwise, you'll likely wind up with substandard results and not long-term income.

Remember that the success rate of any e-commerce store is directly related to the items you choose to sell within your niche. Selling low ticket & low quality items is almost always destined for failure.
